LISBON EDIT...
... à la #LFMuse
Clear skies and Easter on the horizon have us dreaming of weekend getaways and a base tan. The alluring scent of summer is in the air and we are hungry for it. Lisbon is one of the most honest and enchanting cities in Europe and always top of our list for a smattering of sun, charming culture and excellent seafood.
Here are the #LFmuse's insider favourites:
Drinks:
Terrace Ba, Bairro Alto Hotel
Drink in panoramic views of the impressive city sitting high above the River Tagus in this relaxed rooftop bar. Bag a table early evening and watch the sun descend and the city come to life. Then amble through the lofty alleys stopping in where you fancy.
Praça Luís de Camões 2, Lisbon 1200-243
Reflect:
Tram Route
Take the no. 28 antique tram up to the winding alleyways of the Alfama quarter from the Baixa district and absorb. Make sure to stop for dinner & Fado- the music that is the soul of Portugal.
Eat:
Taberna da Ruas da Flores
Chef André Magalhães is a cult figure in Lisbon and this converted cervejaria excels in exquisite local seafood and draughts of beer. Book ahead to avoid disappointment.
Rua das Flores 103, 1200-213, Lisbon,
Cool Off:
Praia da Adraga
Worth the excursion, Adraga beach is voted one of the top in Europe. A sheltered cove with awe-inspiring rock caves, cliffs and golden sand it is well worth braving the steep and narrow descent by car and stopping for steak and fries in the restaurant before giving yourself up to the wild and wonderful. Avoid weekends...
Secret:
Cascais
A short drive (or train ride!) from Lisbon to the coast is the beautiful and exclusive Cascais. Replete with starred sea-cliff restaurants with overflowing platters of shellfish, charming cobbled streets and the expansive Guincho beach. Book theMar do Inferno restaurant for seafood of a lifetime then head to Santini's for a sorbet and stroll along the coast watching the kite-boarders soar. If you have time drive up into the heavens that are Sintra and explore to your hearts delight...
Wear:
Think Brazilian, think skimpy. Opt for the push up Dahlia balconette top with ladder side bottoms or fan briefs to match. Throw over a simple cotton shift and strap on Chloe espadrille wedges and stride forth.
